Adoption - Part 6
Well, here we are about nine months into our adoption process and we’ve now entered our first “waiting phase.” All of our paperwork (dossier) has been sent over to Costa Rica for translation and review and Lord willing in a few months we’ll receive word of approval to be able to adopt from their country. It’s an exciting time, to look back at all of the faithfulness of God thus far, give thanks for the grace He’s given in this process helping us not to feel overwhelmed or stressed by it, and to look forward to what He’s preparing for the future of our family. We see this time of waiting as such a valuable gift. Knowing that there could be as few as six months before we’d be traveling to Costa Rica to meet these kids that are going to join our lives, we are thankful for this time to enjoy being a family of four, be faithful with the daughters He’s already blessed us with, and prepare as well as we can for all of the big changes ahead, including working on our Spanish speaking! There’s a lot to look forward to and a lot to enjoy and make the most of in this time of waiting.
After approval would be granted from Costa Rica, we will enter the matching phase where they could present children to us at any time. At that point, being matched with specific children could happen anytime within a day (we talked to one family who really were matched in one day!) to several months. As we wait to see God’s plan and timing unfold, we’d love to ask you to pray with us:
that the Lord would be preparing us and our Costa Rican children to love and bond with one another
that we’d be faithful in parenting and enjoy this time with the daughters He’s already blessed us with
that we’d be diligent in learning Spanish over these next several months
that He’d be preparing our hearts, souls, and minds as only He knows how
Thank you so much for your prayers and for joining us on this journey!
