Adoption - Part 5

It’s been awhile since our last update, and that’s largely due to the fact that we’ve been busy with all the paperwork and things needed to keep the adoption process moving forward. And things are doing just that! Our home study has now been completely wrapped up and we are now awaiting US approval and working on the paperwork that will be needed for Costa Rican approval. It’s been exciting. And God has been so faithful in leading and showing His hand in each part of the process. It’s not felt overwhelming or stressful and He given us so much unity as a family in it and for all these things, and many more, we are very thankful!

Even in the midst of all the legalities and paperwork, God has shown His kindness in other details as well. In a seemingly “random” (incredibly providential) way we were able to connect with another family who adopted from Costa Rica last year through a mutual friend and got to learn a lot from their story and experiences since bringing their kiddos home.

And Chris had been looking for quite awhile for guys to play soccer with on a regular basis and we recently found out about a group of men from Guatemala who play each week. They bring their families and we’ve been able to go, get to know them and practice our Spanish on a regular basis. One of the families in particular knows just a little bit of English but wants to learn more and since we know just a little bit of Spanish and want to learn more, we’re able to help each other. It’s been really fun and just another way we see God’s hand and provision in this exciting journey!

We would be so grateful for your prayers as we’re still several months from being matched and adopting our Costa Rican kids. Specifically please pray:

1) That we’d been faithful in the season we’re in, parenting Eden and Alia and that the Lord would be preparing each of us, spiritually and physically, for the big changes ahead.

2) For our kids in Costa Rica. Though we don’t yet know them, our hearts are more and more drawn to and excited to know them and to love them. Please pray that the Lord would be protecting them wherever they are, and also preparing their hearts as the changes ahead for them are even bigger than the changes for us.

3) That the rest of the paperwork and governmental approvals would go smoothly and happen in God’s perfect timing.

Thank you so much for your care and prayers for our family!
