I recently sat down with my friend Greg Helton on his Persisting in Purpose Podcast and talked about things I have never really shared publicly before. How this whole thing started. What it has actually been like behind the scenes. And where we are now.
We covered a lot of ground. The Christmas we could not afford gifts and I tried hand lettering a verse for the first time. (It was bad.) The time when a customer asked to visit our "studio" and found something very different from what he expected. What it was like to pray for years about doing this full time while working for other companies, and what surprised me when God finally opened that door.
We also got into some things I do not usually talk about. The tension between growing a business and guarding your heart from pride. How social media can make your identity go up and down based on how many people liked what you posted. What it means to hold something you love loosely and be willing to let God do whatever he wants with it, even if that looks different from what you hoped.
If you have ever wrestled with calling, ambition, or just trying to trust God in an uncertain season, I hope this conversation encourages you.
