Stuff We Love

We love being able to use this outlet to share helpful and encouraging resources we find. We live in a day in age where a wealth of encouraging resources, old and new, are often just a click away and so easily shared. We’ve benefitted so many times from others sharing things with us and we love to be able to keep passing these things along in case there are those who haven’t yet heard of them and could benefit as well. Especially during this time when we’ve all be “quarantined” and spending a lot of time at home, rather than feeling bored or cooped up, there are so many great ways we can redeem this time as families, learning and growing and being challenged together. Here are just a few of the ones we’ve been enjoying lately:

To The End

The newest album by Ghost Ship has been playing on repeat in our home for the past several weeks. The lyrics are so rich, uplifting, and packed with wonderful truth, and of course encompassed by great music. Currently, our favorite songs on the album are Oh Sinner and Belief.

Jesus In Athens

We just heard about and watched this documentary, the story of the work of God in the midst of one of the greatest movements of people in modern history. It brings us face to face with what God is doing in other parts of the world, as Christians show love and hospitality to Muslim refugees. It was so encouraging and convicting to us as a family and spurred on many great conversations between us and our kids.

The Chosen

We’ve shared about this series before, but we think it’s worth sharing again for those who may have missed it the first time. The Chosen is the first-ever-multi-season TV show based upon the life of Jesus. The acting, storylines, and cinematography is really wonderfully done. Just know that these stories, though familiar, are added to, diving deeper into what the characters' real life experiences may have been like, but not all taken directly from the Bible. We really enjoyed it, but of course we always need to go back to Scripture to get the full, true story.

Trailblazers

These books have been around a long time, and there’s a reason why. Lately our daughter Eden has been reading through one after another of these and sometimes I’ll use them as a read-aloud to both of our girls. They’re such a great introduction to the lives of so many men and women of the faith. And when our girls are especially drawn to one or another, we’ll move onto a bigger biography about that person. Biographies are one of our favorite things to read and we’re just so encouraged and spurred on by the examples set before us in these stories.

Sir Bernard: The Good Knight

This is a story/musical for kids written by Steve Green telling the story of a dog named Sir Bernard training a young dog to be a chivalrous knight. Attributed to Bernard of Clairvaux, a God-fearing 11th century monk, it teaches kids a list of twelve chivalric virtues - friendliness, obedience, thrift, courtesy, trustworthiness, kindness, helpfulness, cheerfulness, bravery, loyalty, cleanliness, and reverence in a fun way. Our kids love it!

We’d love to hear about stuff you love as well. Please feel free to share in the comments below!
