Adoption - Part 1

The Lord put the desire to adopt on both of our hearts before we had ever met. Chris had spent time in Russia and visited orphanages, which ended up being instrumental in his conversion. And I lived at a boarding school/orphanage in Uganda before I met Chris. By the time we met and started talking about marriage, adoption was something we talked about not as an “if” but a “when.”

I had struggled with some health issues before we were married and we weren’t really sure if we’d even be able to have biological children. By God’s grace, however, our first daughter, Eden, was born a week after our first anniversary and our second daughter, Alia, came along less than two years after that. We are so thankful for these girls and the blessing they are to us!

Over the years, we’ve continued to pray about and look into both domestic and international adoption, have had many conversations with professionals and family/friends who have adopted, and ultimately have been seeking God’s will as to when and how this process would begin. And now, about five years later, we are so thankful that God’s continued to deepen the desire and open the doors to begin the process of adoption.

Our desire is to adopt siblings, in hopes of giving them the opportunity to stay together and grow up together in the same family, in spite of the dark providence of being separated from their birth parents. We are more aware than ever that there are going to be twists and turns and that the whole thing is going to be a matter of prayer and faith each step of the way, but we are really so excited to see how God will lead and how He will open doors according to His will.

We started a separate page of our website where we will have all of our adoption updates in one place. If you’re interested in following along you can do so here.
