Stuff We Love - Spring Edition

It’s been awhile since we’ve shared some of our favorite things to read, listen to, and do together.

Here are some of our favorites from the past few months:

Hinds Feet on High Places

This is such a beautifully illustrated version of the original 1955 classic. Our daughter, Eden, loved reading it and our younger daughter, Alia, enjoys looking at all of the pictures. And it’s an allegory that the whole family will benefit from reading together.

To the Golden Shore

Eden, the fastest reader in our family, read this book in about a week and then recommended that we read it next. So we plan to just as soon as we finish the book Chris and I are currently reading (see below :). We’ve heard so many wonderful things about it and we having a good biography to read before bed is our favorite, so we’re excited to dive in!

Little Pilgrim’s Big Journey

This picture book version of Pilgrim’s Progress is so great. The Dangerous Journey (an older picture book version of the story) is great, but the illustrations in it are a bit dark and can be scary for sensitive kids. We have really enjoyed this one because it has adapted the story and the illustrations to rightly communicate the message of the original Pilgrim’s Progress, but geared for children ages 2-10.

Teach Them To Work

This is the book Chris and I are currently reading together. When we saw the title, we knew we needed it as seeking to instill a positive view of work and a strong work ethic in our kids has been a huge focus and prayer in our home for the past several months. It’s been great so far and is filled with examples of the Biblical basis for teaching these things to our kids along with practical ways to do so.

Devotional Dippers

This is a fun resource we found out about back in February during a small conference our church was hosting. We bought one of the sets and use it as part of family worship at least once a week. Each stick in the container has a specific thing to read from the Word, talk about, questions to ask, and something to pray together. We’ve all really enjoyed it and they’ve sparked some great conversations.

Sarah Sparks Music

The newest album from Sarah Sparks is another great one. If you’ve not heard of her you should look her up. Her lyrics are worth listening to again and again as there’s so much good stuff to take in and her music is just the right kind to have on while working during the day or when sitting down to dinner in the evening. We enjoy it so much!

Let us know some of your favorite things in the comments below. We’d love to hear and learn from you!
