May Encouragements
We regularly thank God for the blessing of technology in helping us to so easily find and access such incredible resources for our spiritual growth and encouragement. Here are a few of the things we’ve been enjoying and encouraged by lately.
Men Who Rocked the World Podcast
As a biography-loving family, we’ve really been enjoying this podcast hosted by pastor and theologian Steve Lawson. Each episode explores the lives and legacies of key historical figures who have profoundly impacted the Christian faith. Chris likes to listen to it while he draws or sands wood and it is also a great one to listen to in the car with older kids or as part of homeschooling as these mini-biographies dive into history and teach us about great men of the past who can inspire and encourage our own faith. We’ve learned so many new things about some of these men and about their great God!
Why There’s No Reason to Ever Lose Your Peace
This sermon on Philippians 4 has been so encouraging to us (we’ve listened to it a few times now). Not only do we enjoy the preacher’s accent 👍🏼, but we love the way he takes such a familiar passage of Scripture and in such a simple yet profound way, he breaks it down line by line and helps us consider how to practically apply it to our daily lives. We’ve found it very helpful.
The Pursuit of Holiness
Chris has been going through this book by Jerry Bridges with our daughter Eden. The chapters are short and easy to read, but at the same time so rich. It has sparked great conversations and reminds us that while we don’t earn our salvation, we do have a part to play in actively pursuing Christ and walking in holiness with Him. This one’s been around for a long time, but each time we’ve picked it back up it encourages us yet again.
